3 TIPS TO GAIN BRAND CLARITY

First of all, I am a firm believer that you cannot rush clarity. It comes at the exact moment it is supposed to. And also, complete clarity is a bit of a misnomer anyway.

Maybe it will hit you like a bolt of lightning, or maybe clarity reveals itself slowly, methodically, layer by layer like peeling an onion.

Both ways are correct.

Regardless of how clarity comes to you and regardless of where you are stuck, my advice remains the same.

  1. Trust the process.

Honor wherever you are now and trust that clarity will arrive (or reveal itself) when and how it is supposed to. This is perhaps the most difficult part of the process because it can feel so frustrating when clarity keeps eluding you.

When you feel stuck, sitting in front of the computer and googling “brand clarity” is probably not what you need to burst through the block (although that may be how you found your way here, so then again...maybe?)

But, once you’ve done all the googling, go back to doing the activities in your life that bring you flow. If you’re a runner, run. If you love to bake, bake. When the mind is clear and fully focused on the task at hand, creativity and inspiration come forward more easily.

And take notice. When do you feel in flow? For me, personally, taking notice that when I was designing websites brought a feeling of flow and contentment was one of the first steps toward clarity in my purpose.

2. Be ready to go deep.

It's hard to put yourself out there. Sharing your story and your gifts with the world takes bravery, confidence, vulnerability, and a willingness to put aside perfectionism.

Journal, talk it out, meditate. Work through that shadow and inner child shit. Do not skip over the inner work because that is what brings forth healing and self-awareness, both of which are essential in gaining full clarity.

And the truth is, sometimes you do know what you are meant to do, but maybe, just maybe, you are just too scared to do it.

That’s why number 3 is so important.

3. ☀️ Don't try to do it alone. ☀️

I spent so long stuck in trying to figure out either the WHAT - what is my purpose, what am I meant to be doing - or the HOW - hot to translate my purpose into something that feels cohesive that resonates with my audience, and that just looks good.

The only way I got through it was with the right support on my side.

When it comes to getting stuck on your purpose or mission, coaching is invaluable! My friend and colleague, Susan K. Lambert is a true master at helping entrepreneurs uncover brand clarity.

And having support from a coach or an intuitive designer {or both} is so helpful for those times when you need a little extra nudge. Another reason why I find coaching so helpful when it comes to clarity is that a good coach can reflect things back on you that may be difficult to do on your own.
