Tips to Creating the Website Aesthetic of Your Dreams
When it comes to creating a website, we can all agree on one thing. Your website visuals say everything about you as a business owner and your brand. One thing I’m asked a lot is where to start when it comes to deciding on site aesthetics. Because let’s be honest, it can be overwhelming, especially if you haven’t yet created a strong brand foundation. But if you’re feeling a little fuzzy on your branding, don’t worry. In today’s post I’m coming in hot with my expert tips on creating a gorgeous brand aesthetic from scratch.
CREATE A MOOD BOARD
I’m a big mood board girl! There’s something about seeing the visual elements of your brand laid out together that sparks creativity and gets the juices flowing. Canva has a lot of great mood board templates you can use to put together colors, images and fonts that inspire you.
2. USE PINTEREST
Need I say more? Pinterest has everything from color palette inspiration to fonts to design elements. One of the best ways to cull a cohesive aesthetic is to create a Pinterest board with the ideas that speak to you.
3. SEARCH “WEB DESIGNS”
Simply type this into the Pinterest search field and watch the inspiration roll in. While you don’t want to steal someone’s full design, seeing how others have put their websites together can help you cast a vision for what kind of online space
4. PICK A FUN FONT
Confession time: I get a little nerdy over fonts. A good font is such an important foundation when it comes to your brand aesthetic. So what makes a good font? Well, it should be clean and legible, but bold and unique. Personally, I love a minimal, sans serif font as a staple. I’m also a big fan of a pretty hand lettered look, which can put a personal touch when added as an accent or in a logo. While other visual aspects of your site are important, make sure you don’t overlook your fonts if you really want to stand out!
